CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Ibuki Mioda
Age: Early 20's but literally has not changed because Kodaka hates his fans. I'm not even kidding, she even looks the same as she did in her teens. Kodaka is a fickle man.
Canon: Dangan Ronpa
Canon Point: Post "Dangan Ronpa 3: The end of Hope's Peak Academy".

Personality:
There's very few things that you can't see about Ibuki upon speaking to her for a few minutes, but the most obvious has to be her high amount of energy. She's a girl who is extremely difficult to keep up with - whether it's talking for hours or buzzing around like an over caffinated rabbit - and most people prefer just to not deal with her entirely than try to bear her overwhelming energy. It's frequently seen in game, too, but the most obvious example is during one of her Free Time Events with the protagonist. She promises to teach him how to play the drums, and the first lesson is... a race around the island. Five laps around the island, in fact. It leaves Hinata heaving for breathes, but Ibuki's just fine - in fact, Hinata even asks himself how she's able to run like that without tiring, only for her to go off on all sorts of topics not long after. Of course, being upbeat goes hand in hand with this. It's hard for her to actually be serious or depressed, instead preferring to find things to be excited or happy about, even during horrible times. As an easy example, at one point she laughs about her inability to sleep due to the murderous atmosphere, passing it off as a funny joke and playing around with it. She also finds ways to crack jokes in the middle of trials, even when they're discussing things like how one of her friends was stabbed to death. It's... kind of her thing.
Of course, once people get past her extreme energy, they usually run into another wall - her, uh... quirkiness. To say Ibuki is an odd duck would be the understatement of the century; even if someone can keep up with her enthusiasm, they usually find her too strange to really talk to for long. She finds interest in things most people don't - talking about playing with pig guts as stage decorations or saying how fun it is to panic. Plus, she just has an outright odd way of speaking, talking mostly in third person and sprinkling in random sounds and phrases (for example, one of her sound clips is meowing. for no reason). If it weren't for the fact that she can - and does - pay attention to her surroundings and what's happening, she could easily be described as the Cloud Cuckoolander of the class, if tropes are your thing. To go along with this strangeness of hers, she's also uncomfortably forward; she never really stops to think about saying something, even if it pushes peoples' boundaries or bothers someone. Of course, this isn't something she means to do, it just kinda happens with the way she acts and talks. Ibuki can be seen in game loudly shouting about how cute her girl classmates are, for example, and asking the resident photographer to take shots of their nurse friend after she trips and falls. Ibuki's also completely willing to take over conversations and situations, bossing around friends without really intending to and just generally being an overwhelming prescence. She's also not afraid to just straight up flirt with her friends, though it's probably(?) meant as jokes, considering she's not actually looking for romance. But it's just part and parcel of dealing with Ibuki and trying to befriend her to put up with her oddity and boldness.
With all this strangeness and optimism, though, comes a few negative side effects - most notably her childishness. Ibuki hates doing anything she deems "boring", outright crying at Hinata if he tries to get her to do things like sit around or read. Most of her bad reactions in Island Mode - basically a side part of the game that acts as a dating sim, sort of - involve her yelling or crying about being bored, or telling Hinata that he "promised to play with Ibuki". It does mean she can be fun to play around with, since fun is something she craves, but it also leads to her being sort of an annoyance for the more serious types. Not only that, but her childish streak is likely a direct cause for her selfishness; Ibuki can be very sweet and thoughtful, but more often than not, would prefer getting all the attention and treats and whatnot. As an example, during her first Free Time Event, she attempts recruiting Hinata into her band and telling him he can play whatever he wants... but choosing "bass" gets him denied outright with the selfish reason of "stealing her limelight" due to her being a guitarist. This, of course, goes hand in hand with her narcisisstic tendencies; Ibuki thinks very highly of herself and isn't afraid to call herself things like "the Goddess of Music" in casual conversation. These both lead to awkward and insensitive situations at times, such as when she held a concert for her friends, only for it to be interrupted by one of their classmates taking on Monokuma - something that could be very fatal. While the others rushed out to make sure their classmate was okay, Ibuki bemoaned it - understanding that their friend could likely die, but still showing huge disappointment and annoyance at them leaving her concert, even though they obviously didn't like her music anyway.
There's a lot of things that can make Ibuki very difficult to spend time with, as I've shown, and it leads to one thing - loneliness. Ibuki is a very, very lonely person, especially after the disbanding of her light music group due to creative differences. It's most obvious in her FTEs, where she not only mentions it outright - saying that going solo is pretty lonely - but she also mentions spending most of her time alone, playing games like "one-man tag" and "one-man hide and seek". Yeah. Not only that, but the end of her Island Mode route takes an uncharacteristically dark turn in the middle of it, after asking Hinata if he's sure he wants to spend so much time with her, as her bandmate... she straight up says that with Hinata, she "won't have to feel despair anymore, even around other people", suggesting she's the type who feels lonely even in a crowd. This loneliness plays right into something else that Hinata makes a big note of; while she's very self-centric in what she wants and likes, she spends a lot of time thinking, which is a little hard to avoid when you live life as fast as Ibuki and spend most of that time alone. But what makes that important is the fact that what she thinks of seems to mostly be her friends. During the beginning of the game, for example, it's revealed that Hinata can't remember his talent - and pursuing Ibuki's Free Time Events seemingly ignores his plights and feelings, having Ibuki pull him around in races and strange competitions just for her own entertainment. Until, that is, her very last FTE, which actually starts right off with her asking if he remembers anything; as it ends up, while a lot of her actions were just for fun, she also believed since the very beginning that doing these things with Hinata could "stimulate his senses" and help him remember. She had been thinking about him that entire time, even if it seemed like a very selfish routine that even Hinata himself questioned the purpose of many, many times. Which brings me to my very last point: Ibuki Mioda is someone with a very, very big heart. As the "Super High School Level Light Music Club member" - her original title in Japanese - it's not the music part that's important, which is something a lot of people mistake. It's the "Club member" part - to Ibuki, her friends and playing together is what made their music good, not their cumulative talent. Therefore she's always looking for ways to speak to people and think of them and show that she's thinking of them, and even more than that, she truly appreciates the time all of them spend with her. It shows mostly in her interactions with Hiyoko Saionji - Saionji is an ornery brat to everyone, including Ibuki, and insults the musician many, many times. But despite that, Ibuki invites her to play music with her and play games, and is one of the first to jump to Saionji's defense when she's accused of Mahiru's murder. Even though Saionji treats her terribly and prefers to bully her, Ibuki really considers her a friend, and enjoys their time together. As another example, during the second chapter, Mahiru had gone around to everyone who'd featured in the motive - Ibuki included - and asked for them to meet up and talk, despite the fact that most everyone wanted to gather around the same time for a beach get together. And aside from Saionji (who, at this point, clung to Mahiru like a barnacle), Ibuki was the only one willing to drop it completely to see what Mahiru needed. So all in all, even though Ibuki can be hard to stand for long periods of time - her energy is overwhelming, she screams and cries easily, and often dominates situations - it stands to show that it's worth it, as she can be a fun, loving, and surprisingly thoughtful companion.
